Jon Bernthal first portrayed the role of Marvel Comics' avenging angel Frank Castle aka The Punisher in the TV series Daredevil before transitioning to his own small-screen storyline. He returned in Daredevil: Born Again and now this standalone self-contained special directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green expands the character's blood-spattered legacy as part of phase six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Frank is tormented by spectres of the past and he wages an inner war every day to exist without spilling more blood. Unfortunately, external events conspire to drag him back into a living hell and he resorts to his favourite language - snarling violence - to ensure is voice is heard.
